Dilys Leman
writer & editor
Welcome.
I am a writer and editor with more than 20 years of communications experience in
education, the arts, cultural heritage, sustainable urban development and health.
I began my career as a teacher at a First Nations school. Other career highlights
have included seven years as a magazine writer for the National Gallery of Canada,
and the editing and management of content for historical exhibitions curated by
Library and Archives Canada.
My unique mix of analytical and creative ability has served to make me a highly
versatile writer and editor. I have created diverse content for different purposes and
audiences. Examples include:
-
translating employment and labour market research into clear, accessible prose;
-
conveying visual artists’ forays into the surreal, the symbolic and the mythic;
-
writing successful grant proposals that secured significant funding for innovation in postsecondary education.
My services have supported the work of cultural agencies, publicly funded colleges and universities, a First Nations heritage centre, arts organizations, foundations and international development banks.
I welcome new clients including educators, historians, museum specialists and Indigenous organizations working in health, education and environmental advocacy.
